Do not neglect to update your virus definitions since 2001 and then get mad at me when I tell you your system is so fucked up that it needs a complete reload. It is not my fault you haven't run a virus scan since 2001, nor updated your OS with even Service Pack 1.

I've just switched to mac support for our products, two days of training would have been sufficient, the 2 weeks of training I received were a lesson in sadism. Thank god for my Zaurus and Freecell

The phone support has been pretty easy... "You have Tiger? Our CD Doesnt support tiger, you need to download the software off our website." repeat ad nauseum.

More fun is we've switched to VOIP and the calls drop random.
Customers mumble and talk like you have marbles in your mouth on the phone I'm really not going to be able to help.

Atleast there's no more right clicking.

smart people stupid about computers trying to be smart

I am the highest ranking geek at work. Now this didnt happen to me but was shared with me about one of our coworkers.

We just moved into a new facility today. Now in our previous warehouse the desks where back to back and the users couldnt really see the back of their towers.

Withe the new layouts their desks are in the center of an open area spaced greatly and they walk completely around their workstations.

After we set up the workstations one of the workers was playing with the ethernet wire.

JW= CoWorker with a clue
TK= Boss with a clue
MH= one of these things, is not like the other


JW= What ARE you doing
MH= Im messing around with the wire
TK= umm , why?
MH= Cuz the light blinking . . .
TK&JW It's supposed to!
JW= its showing activity.
MH= Oh

Hey kids:
If you are going to drink liquids around computers, use a lid and be careful not to spill anything. If you do spill something, it is common courtesy to clean up after yourself.

But above all, if you do spill something into an IRC computer, let the desk know so we can take care of it.
