I've done this before but cannot remember the key combination...

There is a way to highlight vertically in Notepad or MS Word by using 2 keyboard keys... I cannot remember what keys to hold while selecting the text and dragging down, not across.

This way you can choose to delete say every first character on every line but leaving the rest of the text to the right alone.

Does anyone know this? I did this less than a year ago and it worked GREAT.

I don't belive it was deliberate ... it's just that there's two takes on the idea of a tech support community.

The former is that the community will provide tech support to anyone.
The latter is that it is a community FOR tech support to blog to and be a community of tech support.

As there's two possible definitions, it's the onus of the people who seek out the community of support to stop, read things, and make absolutely certain which one they're about to post to, and the community info page is painfully clear - in bold letters - without scrolling - that we're not here to help you, that we tend to be malicious to end users who stumble on in, and that there is another community for this sort of thing, complete with a link to them.

hah, ignore the poor pissed off techies. We tend to regard this as our corner of the web to rant about our users, so when someone strays in by accident it's like a feeding frenzy. Don't take it personally. ;o)

IMHO, IIRC... It is better to be thought a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt.. That is exactly what GreekLady has demonstrated in the many snippy posts.. ISTM that you would at least be somewhat polite in replying to a post of a newcomer, because, like others have said, everyone makes mistakes.. Now... RTFM, that is a classy response..
