I've done this before but cannot remember the key combination...

There is a way to highlight vertically in Notepad or MS Word by using 2 keyboard keys... I cannot remember what keys to hold while selecting the text and dragging down, not across.

This way you can choose to delete say every first character on every line but leaving the rest of the text to the right alone.

Does anyone know this? I did this less than a year ago and it worked GREAT.

No I'm not 12. I was light heartedly saying that I was sorry, I misposted a question here instead of tech_support by accident.

It's amazing that this entire thing could have been cleared up by the very first commenter saying hey, look at the userinfo... OOPS!

General question here but honestly... why do people jump at the chance to have the great online arguement? I've had a couple from time to time myself but never anything outright and plain rude before. What would prompt people to do this? General boredom?

I'm sure the very first comment would have done just fine to tell me I was in the wrong place. Right?

I do agree with you... usually the best thing to do is stop replying, be mature and end it now. I guess what's frustrating is that there are people so quick to jump on someone for a mistake. Seriously now, I'm sure I'm not the first person to mistake techsupport for tech_support. Also the fact that OmGIdon'tTYPlkDIS! probably means that I'm not a REAL computer user as it was put.

Glad to see there is one nice person here.

Bullshit. I have my office eating out of my hands. They think I am a magical fairy that can fix everything they throw at me.

It is glorified ticket takers who think the are the shit but only end up making matters worse for the actual tech that gets to the desk to help the customer that gives us the bad name.

Fun stuff. I was hired for a Help Desk that catered to a Law Firm. I managed to get in here totally on luck and trained. Although now that I've hit 3 years I'm about to go nuts! LOL Can't wait to get out of here...

I don't know where you work but the ticket takers here don't think *they are anything more than help desk reps that do what they can over the phone and if it's a hardware issue, send it on up... I do agree though, many people hate IT workers because yeah, a lot of them are snobs, I work with a few but... I guess it's going to be a while before I turn snot. I can't imagine treating people with such disrespect...then again this is LJ.
