We're getting more and more phone spam, as companies twig on to the idea that independent schools might have money. Usually, it's for my boss (who we pretend is dead). Occasionally, I end up on the receiving end of some utter bollocks. To wit:
$SALESWEASEL: "I'd just like to invite you to a webinar, a purely educational webinar, we're not going to try to sell you anything at this webinar..."

Me: "I'm sorry, what?"

$SALESWEASEL: "A webinar. An online seminar."

Me: "I don't react well to marketing-based nelogisms. Please speak English."

$SALESWEASEL: "Er, okay... anyway, at this webinar we'll leverage impetus against cybercrime e-terrorism iGovernmentApproved wiki collaboraspace webinar webinar webinar!"

Me: "Not interested, especially with the botched Hastur summoning. DIAF." >click<

I just had to show my coworker, who's been here for five months now, how to open a ticket based on an email instead of a phone call.

She's been here for five months. In all but the very rare nightmare case that I've seen maybe one or two of in all my time here, it's a 90-second process. This email came from one of our easiest people to deal with. Most people have it to a science within a week.

Why did I just have to do that?

Did I mention she's been here for almost half a freakin' year?

So I stayed home and played on my ham radio instead.

Tomorrow back to another rousing day of "oh, you added a Netgear to your pile of Cisco gear?  Your whole callcenter is offline?  Okay, let's start by you killing yourself..."
