kyidyl.livejournal.comSometimes, it's the techs that have the moment.
L: tech 1, he's our most experienced, head tech.
K: One of the other techs, also pretty damned good.
And, me! L sits right next to me and our cubes are seperated by short walls. They're really just wedges of a circle.
K: This guy is in the phillipines, and we need to get ahold of him, but there's a 12 hour time difference. His problem is that outlook issue*.
*insert 10 min discussion about how to get ahold of this guy, because our office hours are 7pm-8am his time, and I'm not staying late to call him, and how we want to fix the issue*
L: Well, K, just email him.
K: ok *walks back to his desk*
Me: *turns around to K's desk* K...how are you going to email him?
K: *blinks**laughs* L...I can't email him.
L: ....ok, send it to outlook support.
*For those who might be curious, the outlook issue is this. We have 12 email servers. All support exchange. EVERYONE can use exchange, if their account was created the way it should be. We used to have POP enabled on all the servers for those that wanted to have it. However, recently, they disabled POP on all the servers except 11 and 12. Specifically, 10. They didn't tell anyone they were doing it until after we figured out they'd done it, then we got an email from our exchange server admins. ;P The symptom is that it asks for the pwd every like...15 seconds (when outlook tries to send/recieve). There's two ways to fix it, migrate them to exchange, or send a ticket to our server admins to have them moved to 12. It just starts working again after that, but it takes longer then just adjusting their outlook profile. ;P~
