Free AV software for Windows PCs

Okay, so there is ClamWin available, but its biggest flaw is that it doesn't do on access scanning.
Not any more!
Get ClamWin from
http://www.clamwin.com/
and install it, then get Winpooch from
http://winpooch.free.fr/home/
once Winpooch is installed, go to the config options and select "use debug privilege" - you then have totally free and Free anti virus software! With the speed with which ClamWin update their defs they would probably have caught that nasty Word virus, especially as ClamWin nicely integrates into LookOut and Internut Exploiter...

looking at the test on this site:

the virus total was 10312, Clam detected 9917 (over 96%), AVG detected 9507 (over 92%)
