Paco's profanity-packed post* reminded me that some true horrible web-based genius has been resurrected: Tristan Farnon's Leisure Town website is back up. (Paco's rant reminded me of the story 'Q.A. Confidential', a story of fraud, theft, and psychotic murderous rage in a dot-com startup.)

More about Leisure Town... )

*Hey, a little alliteration is good for the soul.

Our contract states that our product is sold, installed and supported on a per license basis.

Server = $1000 / license
Client = $4000 / license
Assist = $2000 / license

Your contract states that you have 1 server program, 1 client program and 6 assistant programs (Total: $17,000 w/out our 15% discount)

So why, pray tell, do you have 10 client and 15 assistant programs? (Total: $71,000)

Can we say Violation of Contract? I knew you could!!!

Today, I was presented with a rather rare opportunity.

In five weeks, I quit. Given that it would take several months to do the paperwork to fire me (government job), I am effectively invulnerable for this short time.

So I sent an email to the CEO, my Boss-to-the-power-8 (Boss^8), saying that I could shave two million a year off the Helpdesk running costs while improving all metrics.

Monday, I and Boss^5 get a reply saying "Talk."

This morning, I get an email from Boss^5 saying "You, me, and Boss^4. Next Thursday, my office, one hour. This had better be good."

So, in addition to my big song and dance number, what do YOU think upper management needs to hear from the front lines?
