not my issue buddy...
May. 16th, 2004 01:04 amThe customer's computer keeps booting into safe mode whenever he has his cable modem plugged into his computer. The customer had sworn up and down that it was MY fault that his computer is going batty! Of course when anything goes wrong, and they get me it's always my fault.
Honestly though. What makes people think like this? I'm your ISP which means I give support on your internet connection... For example, when you are not able to connect to the Internet. Or when your email fails. But when your HP Windows ME Piece of shit boots up in safe mode... don't you think that you should call your OEM???
Of course you all know this... But God. They just seem to get worse these days... Fucking idiots.

Date: 2004-05-16 06:13 am (UTC)However....if the issue did involve him installing something from the ISP, then yeah, you should help him fix it. But on the same token, if it wasn't something provided by the ISP for him to use, then yeah, give a suggestion for him to try and refer him to his technical support for what ever he is doing. Maybe even look up a phone number for him.
I agree with you, but we all know that user's dont read the manuals that come with their computers, and that's why manufacturers are putting the manuals on CD in pdf format so that they can save money on the paper product that they had been producing. The problem though is that most users have no idea that their manual is on a CD. They probably don't even care.

Date: 2004-05-16 07:12 am (UTC)Basically what he told me was that things would happen like he couldn't open Excel, or Control Panel, or a few other things while he had his computer connected into the router, and we had to fix it or he was cancelling.
..right, because all the software we made you put on your computer (zero) screwed something up.
I told him to have someone check it out and we wouldn't help him.
Oh, the joy of it all...

Date: 2004-05-16 04:42 pm (UTC)A little off course, but I remember years ago, I worked in a fast food place, and I got a call from someone saying their burrito wasnt wrapped properly and it spilled, so he wanted "a new one". Of course, what he meant by new one was that he wanted a new burrito AND to replace the Armani suit he happened to wear. I basically told him that we'd replace the burrito, but as far as the suit, he could fuck off. :)
