Have system on bench. Had hard drive with click-of-death and diagnostics-flunking. Swapped old refurb Maxtor drive for shiny new drive. Installed 98SE clean. Reinstalled all the drivers. Life is good...until I try to reinstall AOL 8.
Setup starts, and the box reboots.
Every. Single. Time.
It's fine until I try to throw AOL on. It likes Norton. It likes the other shit I'm having to reinstall. It does not. Like. AOL.
Not that I blame it, but this guy wants his AOL, and I'm at my wit's end with this box.
[UPDATE: The power supply. The fraggin' power supply. *slap forehead*]

Date: 2003-08-29 11:02 am (UTC)And just as I finished making that post, the damn thing did its magical reboot trick while attempting to do Windows Update. I've checked the fans, they all work. Doesn't do this shit in safe mode. I'm about to start just yanking shit out of the case and beating it with a hammer. It might not fix the problem, but it'd sure make me feel better.
