Ever supported a famous or super-important person? Do tell if possible.

I have a story but I can't tell it :(

I have supported countless people that think they are famous or super-important person - does that count?

Damn, didn't think so...

No-one outside of Australia will know this guy, but I regularly supported Paul McDermott, an old member of the Doug Anthony All Stars.

Strangely enough, in my previous job at a callcentre for a food-delivery place, I also arranged for his food and alcohol and cigarettes to be delivered.

That's it. go me!

Not convinced he counts as famous. Infamous, maybe. Complete wanker, definitely :)

no one really famous. A baseball player from my hometown Gary Varsho. Also a tech next to me got a call from an announcer for some local commercial for Holiday Travel.

Well, I can only talk about some...

Used to do phone support for Dept of Justice. Specifically the upper management of said dept. Yes, Janet Reno was one of my customers. Although her secretary was the more frequent caller.

My own personal "coup" was the time the Then-Solicitor General waited up & called in from Israel (he was on travel) just before the desk closed down for the night because he couldn't connect & access his e-mail. I rousted out my manager on that one. Sadly, IIRC this was the same gentleman who lost his wife in the Pentagon crash of 9/11.

Plus, given where I work currently, I've done minor support for certain (space-type)Agency directors & their second level folks. *G*

yes, a couple of them. One is an actor (sorta) and another an athlete.

Unfortunately, I can't say who. Both of them usually call in themselves, only occasionally do we get their "assistants". Super nice guys.

The athlete is super big time famous.

All confidential. I did on-location support and training for Macs in NYC.

I helped out a woman who was calling on behalf Spike Lee's production firm -- 40 Acres and a Mule. She was a total biznatch, though.

The software I supported for 2 1/2 years is used primarily by people in the creative/entertainment industry and I got to support many VIPs during the time I had that job. Lots of celebrities, sometimes daily.

For the most part, the more famous and well-known, the more down to earth and super nice. The more wanna-be the person was, the more attitude. Anytime anyonw we never heard of gave us superstar bitch attitude, we'd look them up on imdb while they were jawing at us, and either they wouldn't be listed or had no credits.

On the plus side, we had a user base that did not contain a lot of newbie/luser/luddite/aolers. Too bad the company itself pissed me off.

Google on the contact name (http://pics.livejournal.com/ogw/pic/00074x7y/s640x480)

And I setup a pretty pathetic P-133 Win95 machine for this guy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loren_Shriver) around the same time, as one of a batch of 18 for a re-org team. He said it made his day when I recognized him. Thank god I'd looked him up that morning.

I walked onto an elevator with this guy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Bridges) once too.

He still needed a tech to come out to fix the problem. :)

Used to work for Toys R Us National HQ and Id have to go to the CEO's home - Charles Lazarus (the guy in the commercial "I dont want to be a Toys R Us kid"), and out to his home in the Hamptons for PC install and support problems. Nice properties. A cool guy, too. His wife, the late Helen Kaplan, the renouned sex therapist, was a wonderful woman and they always treated me kindly when I was there working on their machines (and teaching her computer and the internet/AOL.)

Not in tech support, but when I used to work the desk at the Passport office I served Nick Cave more than once, and quite a few government minister types (some of whom were angry yelly buggers who demanded to know why they HAD to come in person and couldnt send their PA. Screw you buddy, the prime minister has to, so you can!).

Dunno. The only people that I've supported round these parts were mderately sucessful small business owners. somewhat famous locally, if only because their name was on the comapny, and they owned properties all over the place.

if I've ever supported someone famous, I've either forgotten, or it was so normal that I don't remember it.
