Hi, for those of you who don't know me, I'm not some newbie who joined the wrong community, I've been here for a while but my tech-supporting-all-day ass needs some goddamn tech support of my own.

But I had a quick question. For more "advanced" Windows support questions that can't be answered by communities such as computerhelp, is there another place where one might find advice on LJ? I think the userinfo of our fair community admonishes actually asking for help here, so I'm asking you guys where you get help instead of asking you guys for help...

...if that makes sense.

Tried it. I suck at coming up with search terms.
But I discussed it with some friends and apparently I can export some reghacks into .reg files to handle stuff like turning off the GODDAMN LANGUAGE BAR on the xp ghost image they use...

Answer: I triiiiiiieeeed that allllready!! Seriously though, I want to know what's possible (have no idea here) before I look up how to do it and search in a hypothetical manner

well, my suggestion would be to keep trying you lazy ass (hey, you admitted it). Otherwise, you will never learn - and you will be just like the LUsers we complain about.

Google is just like any other tool. There are help files, books, cheat guides, but sometimes you just type in what you want & hit the button - and a miracle happens.

There are other more advanced IT communities on LJ, such as defcon_defcon, hardware, ih8spyware, infosec, it_admin, it_professional, itprofessionals, itsecurity, linux, linuxnewbies, lj26000, virusnews, war_driving, wardrivers, wireless.... look at the info pages of this communities members, I am sure you will find more.

There are also web sites & forums for WinDoz support.

we're all lazy :)

ie, will quite happily spend hours writing scripts to do jobs that take 30 seconds.
