Nothing's wrong, please fix it
Oct. 20th, 2005 07:16 amOffice User 1 calls up saying that Office User 2 (absent) had mentioned that some other users (unspecified, but also absent) had been experiencing some kind of problems (unspecified) logging in to certain PCs (unspecified) at certain times (unspecified).
Is anyone in the office having any kind of a problem RIGHT NOW?
No?
...yeah, I'll get on to that right away, then.
What is it with staff calling me to report that, effectively, no-one is having any problems? Too much free time on their hands?

Date: 2005-10-20 07:12 am (UTC)know that all too well *G*
i LOVE that moments when an secretary calls in and says,
she: "i was told by our techs that you should send someone to repair the server"
me: "alright. what is the problem ?"
she: "dont know. but iam sure the tech will see when he's there"
me: "well, i need to know what the problem is before i can send an tech. if there should REALLY be an hardware problem, i have to know which parts the tech should take with him"
she: "cant he take all the stuff needed, to fix the problem ?"
me: "WHICH problem ? is it an failed harddrive ? and processor ? the mainboard ? powersupplies ? power-distribution board ? ram ? monitor ? scsi-Cable ? tapedrive ?"
what i kept THINKING but actually didnt say:
what kind of server ? we have about 15 different tape-libaries, 15 different KIND of tapedrives, 20 different servers and each of the servers contains at least 20 parts. so we would need about 20 tons of stuff to fix EVERY problem
