To prove that a company was charging you?

Hey, I don't post here very often but this one I've been meaning to share...

This is a new one...

This man writes in, sometime in the last 2 weeks. In order to PROVE that the company I work for is charging his credit card, he sent us a VIDEO (yes, you read that right) of him logging into his bank account online and pulling up the charges from our company...

Only one problem... The web site he logged into doesn't list his credit card number and he didn't give us anything we could use to look up the account he supposedly has with us...

All that effort wasted...

A couple of guys in my department wanted to write him back requesting the customer send us a new video of the customer himself standing outside his bank (so that the name of the bank was clearly visible) while holding up his credit card, as proof that he actually uses that bank.

I ask that question every time I get a caller who claims we're charging them for an account I can't find...

Most of them tell me that their bank has put the responsibility for finding the charges and refunding them on us... ::sigh::

It is not YOUR responsibility.
They need to send a photocopy of their last statement, or print one out and send it in.
Their bank can dispute it, UNLESS it is a direct access IE, not a credit card, but oh,, what the hell do they call that? A debit transaction.. where its done directly to their bank account. THAT has to be done on your end.

Poor lad doesn't know the difference more than likely.

Yeah I know it's their responsibility... I love pointing that part out to people who haven't realized that we've been charging them for TWO BLOODY YEARS because they're too damned lazy to check their own credit card statements!!

We had one guy take "screen shots" by getting his camera phone out and taking photos of the screen. It wasn't to prove we were charging him, but your story reminded me of it.

By the way, 12mb emails are fun to try to open.

Yeah... I had a guy do something similar once, when I asked for screenshots of an error... He used his digital camera to take pictures of his montior and send them to us. That was a fun email to open...

Although we archived it for posterity later...
