I'd try to explain broadband. If they still didn't get it, and actually NEEDED a dial-up on the go, I always pushed them towards Verizon DSL so they could get dial-up access as part of the monthly plan. (And no, I wouldn't wish AOL DSL on anyone.)
...then they called complaining their connection wasn't very fast when they were away from home...
