Sounds like a recent duh I had.

Luser: I can't connect to the Internet.
Raven: Who's your Internet provider?
Luser: Roadrunner, but that's at my other house.
R: So who do you have here?
L: I dunno, can't I connect to Roadrunner here? I have the modem.

*facepalm, take a fast call for my stats and move on*

I had to deal with questions like that way too much when recommending broadband to people. Recommending it mostly because I didn't like waiting two hours for drivers and updates and they didn't like the bill that generated.

If the user had a laptop, invariable I would get the question "So can I use this on vacation like I can with AOL?"

I'd try to explain broadband. If they still didn't get it, and actually NEEDED a dial-up on the go, I always pushed them towards Verizon DSL so they could get dial-up access as part of the monthly plan. (And no, I wouldn't wish AOL DSL on anyone.)

...then they called complaining their connection wasn't very fast when they were away from home...
