Hi there. I picked up a new burner the other day (a Memorex external CD-RW 40x drive, to be exact) and have been having quite a bit of trouble installing it. I've gone through the instruction booklet & troubleshooting guides on the Memorex website countless times & nothing seems to work.

According to the instalation guide, after powering the thing up & plugging it into the USB port, the computer should recognize that there's been hardware added. Now, it did give this notice the very first time I tried to hook it up, though when I try to install the new driver, it doesn't give the recognition -- I've gone through the manual settings in My Computer>Control Panel>New Hardware & "USB Storage Device" isn't listed as the literature says it should be.

I'm frustrated with Memorex's lack of a tech support 1-800 number. Perhaps some of you could shed some light on this?

Instead of under USB devices try looking under Unknown devices and deleting it from there..... plug it back in a again and you should get the prompt to install the software
