People are stupid.
Jan. 21st, 2005 12:13 pmAs a matter of fact, *all* people are stupid about something or another in relation to someone else.
However, some people are more stupid than others.
Case in point:
I am required to ask if someone is calling on a new or an exisiting probem.
Often they say, "oh, it's not a problem, I don't need a ticket, its just a question"
OK, I can deal with that.
"what is the address to check my email on the web" or "what's the phone number for voicemail" are some that I get all the time.
But then they launch into this monologue about *something that is keeping them from doing their work.*
Hello? problem?
When they ask me if I can help, I want to say, "yes" and then hang up, because that was the question.
But I can't, because then I would get fired.
i.e.: terminated employee left a monthy recurring meeting for a conference room in outlook. This at the very least requires troubleshooting, either me doing something or asking someone else to do something. This moves it from "question" to "problem."
Blech.
OK, I'll quit whining for now.
