Having used GMail for a week or so now ... I have to say that I'm not wildly impressed. Certainly doesn't live up to the hype it has been getting.

Interesting.. I love it. The filters and stuff in GMail work (unlike Moz Thunderbird or MS Entouage) I'm using it for regular e-mail and can say I'm more than impressed by the feature set it has.

Eh. I only use the filters a little bit, and the message threading, which I was really looking forward to, pretty much sucks... I've submitted feedback, we'll see what happens.

I've had it for a little over a month now, myself, and I'm still iffy. I admittedly miss my folders, although the filters DO work.

My problem is I have yet to find a good way to sort or search by date (maybe I'm just clueless and blind) and I get tired of looking at old mail sometimes and want to auto-archive.

I like the idea of labels instead of folders. You can search "before:date" and "after:date". Note that

after:2004/08/30 before:"September 1, 2004"

does include both ends (and note that it is freeform for dates.

Really, I archive everything after I read it, and if I need to find it really quickly, I just star it.

One thing I miss is using procmail for my lists, but the filters are pretty good.
