When the customer was relaying everything to me about what she wanted done. I was going to tell her to make sure I understand it correctly to make sure we would do the right thing

The customer said to me, if she needs to repeat anything she would like to talk to a man and hang up and call back.

I told the customer that I just want to make sure of what we are going to do

At this point the customer said she couldn't deal with me and disconnected the call.

It's going to be funny when she calls back in, and the "man" repeats her problem too =/

It's my understanding that it's good call quality to communicate the problem back to the customer, thus ensuring you understand the issue, and proving to them that you were listening.

The proper response to her comment would've been:

"..... *pause*
... Is your husband/son/brother/father/(insert other male relative) there? Why don't I work with them, instead...?"

My favorite sexist comment, when I was working a deskside tech support gig:
Me: "Hi, I'm here to fix your computer."
Standard middle-aged middle manager: "Um, where's the computer guy?"
Me: "I'm right here." Big smile.
SMM: "No, you look like somebody's mother."
Me: "Probably because I am somebody's mother. Now, did you need your computer fixed?"
SMM: "You can do that?"
After a few more minutes of this, he "let" me "try".
Sheesh! He didn't believe me when I said it was fixed, either, and insisted on opening every application just to make sure.

my favorite is when one of the ladies here got a guy who asked to be transferred because he wanted to talk to a man, the only other person not on a call was another woman, and the shift lead was out so when he asked to escalate it was another woman and when he got grumpy about that the top of the line was yet antoher woman.... i wish i had a recording of the call, cause she is one of the best reps we have here.

what a dumb bitch.

when I used to work as a bench tech, I once had this lady come up with an ancient boat of a machine, asking me what she could do with it. she knew jack shit about the box, so I started to look up the system specs/upgradability on the manufacturer's website, but it was so old that it didn't exist. she then told me I was too stupid to help her and that she wanted to talk to a man.

I got my supervisor (male) and he told her the exact same thing.

It's much less understandable when a female is sexist toward other females...
