i work for a very small company. there's three of us, a couple of contractors, and a couple of liasons for companies we do business with who tend to hang out in our office.

my philosophy on cat macros and business. cut due to slight topic drift. )

in more specifically support-related news, has anyone else in the software segment noticed a huge increase in piracy lately? we've been dealing with a lot of people demanding support for pirated software and they're really annoying me. it's just been since the US economy really went into the toilet, frankly. generally in the past we had people pirating our software but not trying to abuse us into supporting it or demanding free copies of it because they need it. i had a guy yesterday who told us he'd sue us if we didn't support a product he freely admitted illegally downloading "because i needed it." (it's also a general mistake to tell Wonder Paralegal that you're going to sue their company. sure. um, on what common-law grounds?) listen, if you're in that dire of financial straits, we'll talk barter, reduced price, etc. just don't steal from little companies.
