Your documents aren't short enough!
Jun. 27th, 2008 09:36 amBackground: I work for a frozen treats company. On the Help Desk.
This morning, we were asked to send an e-mail to our VPN users to let them know about our shiny new VPN client. Along with a word document that includes screenshots for our more frequent fliers.
The following reply was received:
"This was a long document to print – a summary (rather than 13 pages) would have been more “green”…
Thanks"
Since being professional over e-mail, at least to users, is important in keeping my job. I decided to forward this to the author of the document in question and included the following:
"Try thinking about the trees when you write a concise and informative document on how to install a vpn client and then FORCE people to print it out!"
To which I got the reply:
"Future VPN install documentation:
Download
Install
Reboot
Login"
The thread then degenerated into double negative leet speak and lolcat spamming.
I love work some days.
