Any of you have suggestions on how to deal with unruly customers? I can appreciate sarcasm, but genuine advice would be great, too.

I just have a feeling that my current tactic of "egg them on until they swear at you, then feign offense and disconnect them" won't fly much longer.

so last year my company hired this woman as an admin
and the computer i gave her wouldn't save word / excel documents

seriously!!
"i had everything completed yesterday but it is not here now!"

so....
i do all the updates, recreate her user profile, ensure autosave is on
create some test documents and sucessfully save locally  to the network
bla bla bla

still again, she "finnishes" her work, only too have it dissapear again.

"save! it doesn't work!"

now i KNOW this is a total pebkac error
and by this time her management is suspecting the same
but as a last resort to humor her
i swap her workstation with another one
only to find! ZOMG! save doesn't work on this workstation either!

do i need to say that this person is no longer with the company??

ps. it's not your computer's fault you don't do any work!

Remember last month I posted an open letter to a dork in Test who decided to flame me in email because we don't use their preferred Work Request system?

Friday I received notification their WR system is being retired in March; they have to switch to our system. Today, I got an account deletion request for Mr. Snotty; evidently he's insufficiently nice to people in email.

I posted something like this a month or three ago but it never fails to amaze me:

User: I've lost a document I was working on yesterday can you find it for me?
me:   do you know what it was called?
User: no
me:   do you know maybe which network drives it might be on?
User:no
me:   so you don't know what it's called or where it is?
me:   ( goes through the typical recent docs, search for docs created yesterday, various temp folders n files)
me:   I can't seem to find it are you sure you can't even guess what you saved it as?
User: Oh, I didn't save it !
me:    shakes head

I just received the following e-mail, in its entirety.

Greg,

my internet works this midday???

J

I know our network isn't the best in the world, but it really isn't necessary to inform me when it is working. Roffel-Mao.

Today I made a Windows Sharepoint Services site. Ok, it's not much, but it was something to do and I made an effort. I tailored the document libraries to the groups we have; I made sub-sites for different departments; I put a lot of thought into what information goes where. I'm hoping that this can eventually replace our horrid fileshares, and be generally awesome for everyone. If you think about it, it really is quite nifty and would make a lot of people's work much easier. I also have the following predictions: )
