Stupid people never cease to amaze me.

I go to school at a small liberal arts college, and I work in the IT department. Student comes in, needs help cleaning out his college email - he's so far over the size limit that his account is shut down and he can't receive anything. Went abroad for a semester and never checked his email- probably since last May. He's got a good 1900 items in his inbox, and at least than many in his deleted items. I clean out the trashcan and then show him how to delete things in his inbox- he's got pages and pages of System Admin warnings.

"But can't you just delete the whole thing?"

I introduce him to the concept of selecting the entire page, and hitting delete.

"But can't you or someone else just hack into the system, and get rid of it all?"

First off, I'm a student, and I do not have the ability to get into anyone's email but my own- and I really don't think you want me to have that privilege. Second, the adults who work here have better things to do than empty your email account because you're too stupid to clean it out on occasion. This will take you ten, fifteen minutes. Grow up already.

At least the SysAdmin and I got a laugh out of this. :D
