I work for a Top 10 Real Estate Agency. We get stupid requests all of the time from agents, office managers, and well, everyone else too. I thought this one really took the cake, I just had to share. This e-mail came from one of the help-desk guys who work from our corporate headquarters.

Mr. CFO and Mr. President want us removing the “Intel Inside” stickers that distinguish the Celeron machines from the Pentium machines. Agents have been complaining that they only got a Celeron.

Way to save money guys!

Someone else on the team had something to say about this:

I have an even better idea.. Lets put Intel Inside stickers on all the machines and make everyone happy.

Aside from AMD fanboys, that is.

Oh, the new school year is so near, but yet so far away. What a drag. (That is a mild reference to the music mentioned, but I digress.)

The aforementioned demonspawn struck again. This time, $USER comes to my door looking forlorn as usual, saying "these kids have done something to my computer and it's frozen".

I go in and it's at the BIOS screen doing its memory check. She says, "what have you two been doing?" One reply: "[other kid] did it." "No I didn't! You touched that button!" "No, that was you!" *ears bleeding*

Anyway, it boots cleanly and all is well with that. However, as I begin to leave, she gives me one last directive..."You must tell them not to mess with my computer!"

NO I FSCKING DON'T. I'M NOT THEIR MOTHER. YOU ARE.

Oh, did I mention that when I walked in, I'd seen that these two had put about 7 cicada exoskeletons on top of the PC?

The tech was working with a customer who was unsure if she had created a JFS or JFS2 filesystem. He was explaining that there is a difference in the output of lsfs -q mountpoint. He decided to create a test filesystem in the lab.

Tech: OK, I'm going to create a filesystem on a lab box here, I'll call it $CUSTOMER_NAME
Customer: Wow, you named a filesystem after me. I fell so honored.
Tech: OK, now I'm going to mount $CUSTOMER_NAME
[INSERT LONG, UNCOMFORTABLE SILENCE]
Tech: Err...sorry about that, it didn't even occur to me...
Much laughter ensues.

So, note to self: DON'T name a filesystem after a a female customer, then tell her that you are mounting it.

EDIT: I wonder if she gets surveyed, will she say that she was "Very Satisfied" with the support she received?
