Yeah! Nothing like a little Tuesday Stress.

The day starts out quiet, then all of the sudden bam. 40+ calls waiting. It's 9:25AM.
What the heck happened? Well, several things.

First off, we have a tool to show us what exactly what is going on with a cable modem such as signal levels, speed, time, basic stats, etc. It decides that it's going to be flaky. It decided it wouldn't poll modems anymore. Great...

So then round two comes, provisioning decides it wants to back up. Wonderful, now the only thing we can do with the cable modems is power cycle without provisioning. I don't care really, most of the issues I've had just are user stupidity. It is annoying however, because people want to reset the passwords on the account, and we can, it will just take a long time to take to go through. That's annoying. People yell at us for that crap.

Finally, we lost a headend this morning in the OC. Those people are the most evil, stingy bastards you would ever meet. We put up the IVR, but of course no one listens to the thing. They have to yell in my ear because they can't run their business on our residential line. Stupid f*ks. Don't give me s*it. Pay the extra $10-20, run your business and go scream at them.

It's now 10:30 and the calls are down to 0. Perhaps the people have finally caught on to that were working on it?? One can only hope.

I still have 6 hours of this....crap.

Absolutely loving the users who keep calling in demanding that our external email issue, which has been ongoing since Thursday, be resolved RIGHT NOW! Explaining that there was a huge backlog from the mail being down gets the response that it had all weekend to get through that, so it should be fiiiiine. Explaining that we're in Australia, and do business with overseas companies, meaning there'll be mail coming in all day saturday (to the guy in the Overseas Trade area), and as such there'll be mail adding to the backlog whilst it's trying to clear, and monday mornings mail is just going to add to it as well was met with more anger.

Having the same guy call back 2 hours later, and re-rant everything he said to me earlier did not improve my mood. At least my manager, after calling him back because he complained to me so much about wanting answers, agrees he's an idiot who refuses to listen.

And later, her husband on the line... "I stuck it in most of the way but it wouldn't inhale it."


Believe it or not, my day is going incredibly quickly....

Just as thousands of their subscribers are going to need to download Windows Updates.
