"I don't know how it works, sir, but I can tell you it's working correctly."

Save me from EUish cow-orkers.

Tomorrow's going to be a double-whammy: Microsoft Patch Tuesday, and the drop-dead date for those folks who have been blocking XP SP2 from Automatic Updates.

Should be a big couple of days, especially for dial-up users.

My heart goes out to all of you on the front lines. Come home carrying your laptop, or on it. ^_^

For those of you working frontline tech support: Have your senior engineers given you materials to cover the SP2 update, considering it's only been out for...six months or so now? If not, is it still your job to address issues?

Telling me: "I don't care what you do, just FIX IT!" and then hanging up doesn't work.
Especially when "fixing it" requires the same thing it has for the past 3 months (the same 3 months you are, amusingly enough, trying to demand credit for): plugging the modem in.

I am going to laugh when I find out that you called back in and whined that it still doesn't work. Why won't it work? Because you, a self-proclaimed technician, couldn't bother yourself to try troubleshooting it?

Your claims of your home and work connection working anywhere you plug in a PC to the wall on broadband made me laugh, in an "I want to die" sort of way. No connection works that way - unless it's via ethernet. You cannot plug a PC, via a phonecord, into a wall, and expect it to work over broadband. Especially if your modem is sitting there with the DSL light blinking in a forlorn manner.

I feel sorry for the lady who hired you. You are an idiot. And you wasted so much of my and her time by ranting in such an egotistical way at me as I tried to, with some measure of self-control, explain to you how stupid you are.

Give up, now. Before someone puts you into your place.
It won't be pretty.

A normal day: 9 folks working our queue
Today: 5 folks working our queue.

OK, it's good cause 3 of the 4 missing are in training, and training means they'll get better at closing their own calls - always a very good thing. The other is on vacation, that's OK too, cause it means she's less likely to have a meltdown and quit. However, it's going to be that way until Thursday.

I'm already at the point where I am getting incoming emails with data I've requested and I don't even recognize which call it is and have to go hunting through my obscenely long open call list.

My left eye is already starting to twitch. I see full on seizures by Wednesday afternoon.

Eep.

Can someone please tell me why it's illegal for me to stab my fucking idiot coworkers in the face?
