Me: Humor me.
Customer: Oh look, now email resolves!
Me: Right, sometimes, even Macs need to be rebooted.
Customer: Oh, I never said that Macs never need to be rebooted.
Me: ...
Customer: You know, I work at [NATIONAL ENERGY RESEARCH LAB]. I know all about computers!
Me: That's nice, ma'am.
At work, we like to assume that these customers are smoking blue crack. Howdy, techs!

Date: 2009-11-24 07:54 pm (UTC)Seriously, though, rebooting works a lot. In theory my linux machine should never need to be rebooted, and that is often true, but sometimes it works. And sometimes it fixes what's wrong fast so i don't have to restart 20 services one at a time and test after each.

Date: 2009-11-24 09:41 pm (UTC)I have a PC at home (which I use for gaming and such) but my office is a Mac shop. Imagine my surprise when my first day of work they bring me my new laptop and... it's a MacBook Pro. It's taking some adjustment, but I love them both :)
