Customer: Macs NEVER need to be rebooted!
Me: Humor me.
Customer: Oh look, now email resolves!
Me: Right, sometimes, even Macs need to be rebooted.
Customer: Oh, I never said that Macs never need to be rebooted.
Me: ...
Customer: You know, I work at [NATIONAL ENERGY RESEARCH LAB]. I know all about computers!
Me: That's nice, ma'am.

At work, we like to assume that these customers are smoking blue crack. Howdy, techs!

... But what I love about MACs, is that rebooting them often fixes just about any issue with ... just about anything.

Don't i recognize you from that commercial where you bought a PC?

Seriously, though, rebooting works a lot. In theory my linux machine should never need to be rebooted, and that is often true, but sometimes it works. And sometimes it fixes what's wrong fast so i don't have to restart 20 services one at a time and test after each.

Indeed, I often find that rebooting resolves issues with my Media Access Control address :P

I am a multi-platform kinda girl. I go both ways ;)

I have a PC at home (which I use for gaming and such) but my office is a Mac shop. Imagine my surprise when my first day of work they bring me my new laptop and... it's a MacBook Pro. It's taking some adjustment, but I love them both :)

The have never run Software update, haven't they? Even updating Safari or Quicktime requires a reboot.

Yeah, no kidding. And the Software Update icon bounces at you until you reboot.

Should have seen the initial look on my face though. "WTF do I do with this?!"

I imagine, I'd do the same facing a Windows machine.

Believe it or not, I have never used Vista, barely XP[1], and have yet to see WinDOS 7 running beside in the commercial.

[1] that was back then to run Office 2007 so I could write the import fitler for OOo (for PPTX)

I know all about computers!
