when this is the first thing i see in the morning i just know it's going to be an awesome day. this on top of the fact that i have a broken printer and surprise new users starting monday that i JUST found out about. now its time to pull a cubicle / workstation / new fuser out of my.... what?

I don't see this as a particularly bone-headed request. Some PCs support it in BIOS, and various versions of Windows allow it to be set in different ways (http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/win98/t1003776170). Either way, I would definitely want my users to ask me, rather than fiddle with either method themselves.

its not the request itself that irks me, its the total lack of any sort of communication etiquette. i mean, would you email a client with that sort of language???

why am i not worth the same level of effort??

i guess i also hold my users up to a certain standard, i mean i work at an international engineering company! they are all engineers for pete's sake! they took more school than *i* did!! :D

If I were already on a first-name basis with them, sure. Though I would hope I wrote "automatically" instead of "automatic" in the above sentence.
