Hey all, first post here ...



Had a tech from our store (computer repair shop) go out to repair a "stuck cd" in the drive.

he is unable to slide the drive out due to some obstruction, and so he has to take the drive out and take it apart to get the disk out.

this is what he sees.








in case you aren't familiar with what it is is.... here...



yep. its the black disk from the inside of a floppy.

when asked, she had never seen or used a floppy before and thought the outside of it was a protective packaging.

we have a feeling she was lying.




but that isnt what was preventing the drive from opening. it was the dried pieces of macaroni.

I saw the opposite of that! I think my former employer still has the 5.25" floppy drive with the CD permanently wedged into it.

But yeah, the macaroni is the kicker.

Yes, people are that dumb. My first job in Atlanta was working for a company that processed insurance claims for dental work. Our software came on 3.5" disks.

Yes...we had a customer actually remove the outer shell and try to put them in his CD ROM.

Sadly, this guy was a Dentist. :-o

I remember in a class children's developmental stages being discussed. There actually is a stage where children instinctively learn about spatial things by trying to shove objects in other objects, around age two.
Yes, there is an evolutionary reason why your two year old did that to your computer.

beloved once had to go on a tech call...found a cookie in the floppy drive. and a bunch of pennies that had worked their way down to the motherboard.

the 4 year old wandered in to watch (his horrified mama was already watching, confused/horrified)...and said "put the pennies in the shoom-shoom slot!!"

he had been watching mama and daddy at the puter....when beloved's boss found the cookie, mama asked "what IS that" beloved piped up with "shortbread, i do believe!"

he was sent to sit in the van, lest the boss actually laugh out loud in the customer's home....

Yes, but to get one open requires some serious prying with a knife/screwdriver. You'd think she'd figure out after the first couple minutes of prying that the shell isn't supposed to come off.
