I'm beginning to like the stupid ones...
Jul. 30th, 2007 10:08 amI've been keeping track of my daily *wins* for problem tickets I get. Today's win was for a computer not booting up.
When I went to check it out, there was a lovely blue screen, & a message that said something to the effect of, "ROM error, ESC key may have been pressed during boot."
Lo and behold, they had a little radio sitting right on the ESC key on the keyboard. I removed it, and it booted right up.
Sometimes I really wish people would just read the error messages that they get ... but then again, job security is nice.

Date: 2007-07-30 09:04 pm (UTC)A guy from work a few months ago began complaining that the joypad on his PS2 devkit wasn't responding. Flailed around and complained a lot for a few hours then suddenly realised that he had a USB keyboard plugged in with a stack of paper on it. For whatever reason it will ignore all other input if you have a keyboard plugged in and a key held down.
That alone would be fine - especially since they don't put out any error messages about it - but he does this every time he moves desk and never seems to learn from it.
