...And this is why I stopped using the 905 NIC after the "B" revision...

IIRC, the 3c905a, 3c905b, and 3c905c had radically different chipsets and drivers, and I don't think 3com ever figured out how to write a driver, or a driver-installer, that could recognize which one you have. Lord help you if you have more than one kind in the same box!

Valid gripe, but I don't think it's Microsoft's fault this time.

And I've got 'em all sitting around here. If you covered the model markings you'd never be able to guess they were part of the same family of cards. Vista does not come with built-in support for any of these cards even (as of RC2, it might have changed with Final) - the driver has to be downloaded or installed from a disk. These cards have turned into dinosaurs, which is kinda too bad - a B runs my system even though my board has an onboard NIC because it slows things down and has a bug with upstream traffic across the network (slow as hell).

Vista was on/off with my 905b, and I forget if the final recognized it or not. What I thought was pretty damn hilarious was my Adaptec 2940, which had *never* had a driver included with any of the beta builds, and we were in fact told that it was simply Not Going To Be Supported...was recognized by the RTM build without any intervention on my part. *headsmack*

Sounds like typical MS bullshit. Those adapters are literally everywhere.
