Against my better judgment, I allowed a client to talk me into coming in 30 min early to help with an upgrade. Not only were they late, but they were not prepared...
Standard rate in this area is $88 and hour, so they owe you $44.
I've done this before when clients have cancelled appointments. I'll usually stick around for 10-15 minutes without a person being there. However I've had cases where the wife has been there while the husband was the one wanting to know what was wrong, and the wife insisted I stay there until the husband comes home. She ends up calling him and he calls her back saying he forgot to cancel, 2 hours after I've already been there. damn right I billed them for my time.
