So I've managed to find actual enjoyment in this job over the last 8 months because I've had an awesome supervisor. He's an ex-tech himself and has managed to shield our team from most of the management-level B.S. But I found out tonight that effective Monday, the management has decided to re-arrange the teams at random and I'm being assigned to a team with a significantly less endurable supe. He's an ex-tech, yeah, but he was at best a mediocre tech who sugarcoated everything and kicked the customer off the phone, causing them to call back later infuriated when they found out that yes, it was our problem. And since he's been a supe, he's irritated me even more, dismissing problems, refusing to take responsibility for anything, and focusing on making the customer happy rather than actually solving problems.
I'm fucking pissed right now. Anyone else dealt with this kind of change (I know I'm lucky to have had the same supe so long)? Am I going to hate life in a few days? Anyone who just wants to bitch about their boss, and now has a convenient opportunity?

In an ideal world the manager is supposed to be able to manage around the way an employee works to make the employee more effective. However, the way it really works is the employee has to change the way they work in order to make the situation tolerable and not get their ass fired. If you're the type of employee that works well with a minimum of supervision and simply gets work done, you can probably get this point across to your new stupidviser pretty quickly and make their life miserable whenever they interfere. If you need to work closely with them for whatever reason {nature of the work, whatever), you're going to have to rely on my next point.
A prior commentor mentioned training your boss. LART training is essential when preparing a supervisor. Their attitude must be adjusted to match yours. The worst thing that can happen is a stubborn supervisor that insists on changing everything to my way or the highway - that boss is going down and taking his team with him. The thing is you and the rest of your staff have the security of numbers. He has to cater to how you work best as a team and manage accordingly - make sure he knows what that is in no uncertain terms.
You'll make it, might be a little rough, but be assertive about who really holds the cards.
