It's official.

Starting tomorrow, I will no longer be a regional dispatcher. I have been promoted (laterally, so there's no extra money) to Incident Manager for one of the groups I support. This is basically a lead role, I get to take an overview look at the department and make sure trouble tickets are handled right, and that everything goes smoothly. This is considered to be a Management role, I am officially not a technician anymore.

This is quite a relief to me. Yes, I realize that I'm a 2nd Lieutenant for all intents and purposes, I'm also in a position to move up a little farther in the next big reorg. Added with the $5K per semester my employer will give me for school (and all of the certification classes they run and pay for, as well - hooray for NetG), this is a damn fine thing for me.

So, yeah. Kinda surreal. I got called on Friday, asking if I wanted this role, then spent an hour on Monday with my boss plotting out what I currently do and what I would be doing. It's almost like it's a dream. Guess I'll find out at 7AM sharp.
