Look. Stop what you're doing. Listen.

To ME!

Look, I don't care what the last tech said. This is me, I have my own style and you'll follow my directions. Your internet is fine. I can talk to it, and I can even ping your computer. The last tech told you to ping 192.168.100.1.

WHY!?

Your computer isn't hooked up to a router, and that's a private IP address. I made you run ipconfig and low and behold you have our IP address that we assign to you dynamically! Wow!

Why is it that you people have to fight me on this type of stuff?

You want a tech? Why? Perhaps we could reset the browser settings to get you on. No? You still want a tech.

Fine. I'm done with ya. I hope they charge your ass.

*When will they ever learn?

Ice is back with my brand new invention

Flow like a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop yo I don't know...

To the extreme we rock IPs like a vandal
Turn on your modem and watch lag melt like a candle

Actually, 192.168.100.1 is the IP address of the Motorola Cable Modem (the 3100, the 4100 and 4101, the 4200, the 5100 and the 5101) which is also the IP you put into your browser to access the modem's settings.

So if the customer has that modem, and can ping that IP adderss, then at least his machine is seeing the modem.

HTH HAND.

If the machine can route that IP address.

When they whine "But the last tech didn't do that with me" I respond with "The last tech didn't get you working either".

Whenever someone was reluctant to follow instructions (like switching off a crashed PC, because they had been told never to switch off without shutting down), I would tell them to go ahead on my authority and if there was a problem later, I would personally intercede on their behalf with the World Computer Science Council.
