You've been using someone else' login for the last nine months. This is A) against the employee code of conduct, which could potentially get you fired. B) illegal, given that we both work for the government. C) dumb. The sysadmin just cancelled that user's account because she left and now, since you never bothered to arrange for access to the applications you need, you're locked out.

When your friendly neighbourhood helpdesk tech offers to sort it out for you as soon as he can and without reporting you, the correct response is "Thanks", not "Unacceptable".

Yecch. Some people amaze me - they expect us to be able to do ANYTHING computer-related instantly, and on demand, but then they feel that they're superior to us.

Had that happened to me, I'd have said "You're right. This is unacceptable. I need to report this," - and then done it

That sounds like one guy (who was) here - was caught with his own foot seriously up his own ass. A co-worker was running interference, defending him, and generally covering, and the spaz got all bent out of shape and beligerent, yelling at the guy to get out and stop butting in.

As part of your code of conduct you need to report all breaches of protocol and security violations and violators.
Document this; tell your boss and then the security admin. Users that use the phrase "Unacceptable", when you are going out of your way to help them go into the Stupid User Category.

Remember a favorite past time of help desk teams is watching the security guards throw stupid users out of the building once they have been terminated for cause.

Please remember to waggle your finders as the stupid user gets dragged past.
