Red Alert!
Mar. 21st, 2006 09:34 pmThere's one particular person at work who calls me on my cellphone nearly every Friday on my day off, usually with some really stupid problem.
I was playing around with my new RAZR phone, and figured out how to create my own ring tones. So I set that particular user's phone number as the red alert klaxon from Star Trek.
Now I'll know when NOT to answer the phone....

Date: 2006-03-22 07:31 am (UTC)Use the .MID if you have a RAZR and Verizon Wireless. Use the .WAV for pretty much any other carrier. (They're actually the same file, it's just Verizon blocks MP3 files and does weird things to .WAV files you try to send to your phone, but it ignores .MID files. The phone plays the sound correctly even with the wrong extension)

Date: 2006-03-22 02:46 pm (UTC)In a previous job, I was called on a day off by a user. I told them to call the helpdesk as I was not in the office. User persisted. I told them to CALL THE HELPDESK, I AM ON A DAY OFF and hung up.
User got the message, and later apologised for calling me on day off!

Date: 2006-03-22 03:03 pm (UTC)Users have asked for the number.
I tell them "No."
Call our call center - if I'm needed, they will call me.
It's worked well the past few years...
