My GOD man.

You run LINUX and you can't figure out how to make a DHCP connection and figure out how to set up a PPPoE connection in a modem that's made for MAC users to figure out. We give you the default username/password to get to, too, so that's no excuse.

You know what? Your Linux license is revoked. Shut down Gnome, take out Red Hat or whatever the fuck fruity flavor you're dicking up, and just burn the CDs. Reinstall XP and contemplate what a naughty little boy you are. No, wait, in fact, fuck that noise. BUY A MAC. You don't even get the joy of getting a services.msc window, you weenie. You get everything handed to you in nice, soft, pastel colored baloons, because the sharp corners of the windows may hurt your eye. I'll bet you can't even find the console, CAN YOU!?!

Don't even bother to speak anymore, just hang your head in bad geek shame! Bad geek! Bad bad geek!

Now render me some Cyberpunk 2020 characters and stats on your fucking fruitbox, exile.

And another thing: Tech, don't message me on our little bullshit IM service asking me if something is an outage. Is it on the outage board? No? IT'S NOT A FUCKING OUTAGE, THEN, IS IT?! Jesus fucking CHRIST. I'm going to buy the game Clue and just hand out pieces of it to people who ask me retarded questions. "It was on the board yesterday." "It's in the same state as this outage." "It looks just like this one happening on another coastline." What the fuck, tech, did someone infuse your daily dose of Soylent Green with Stupid (definitely not from concentrate)?

Argh.

Not everybody who runs Linux is an expert- I've only been on the system a little under a month, and I couldn't figure out how to set up PPPoE on it.

Then again, I'm bright enough to use wifi and just run everything through a router.

And to think DHCP is supposed to make life easier for people. :)

And even if it isn't, there's extensive documentation on how to enable the DHCP service. Service management is easy on mine, but I run a distro that's designed to make things as easy as possible.

The Mac of Linux Distros?

To some extent. The name is PCLinuxOS, and I'm learning how it works while simultaneously not being cut off from having a working computer. The big thing, imo, is that the hardware detection is highly cromulent, and Synaptic makes life so much easier.

PCLinuxOS. It's a Mandrake fork that uses KDE.

Hmm...
ah... an apt/rpm based package manager distro. I prefer portage as a package manager myself. Not much for those crazy binaries myself.

Can't every distro, including Mandrake, run KDE/gnome/fluxbox/blackbox/elightenment/etc/etc/etc???

I would imagine any distro would be able to run any GUI, fiddly bits and odd forks notwithstanding.

Can it? sure
Is it easy to do? well...certain distros are designed around KDE or GNOME exclusively. Replacing one with the other can be a pain.

I was being sarcastic. I know this to be true.

I used to get really excited whenever someone would call in with Linux. Until I got one that not only didn't know what distro he was running, but what a distro was.

was it a Wal-Mart PC? I know WallyWorld put out some PCs that ran some form of Linux so they didn't have to pay for M$ licensing and put out $299 desktops.

They don't sell those up here... I'm figuring he probably bought some form of Red Hat for an exorbitant price.
