Okay, so it's one thing to open a ticket about a dumb question. Not everyone is computer literate, and the opening of that dumb ticket (and many others like it) gives me a paycheque.

However, what I hate is when said Luser tells me that he/she is some big computer expert, that they make so much more than I do, and that when I'm going through the basic troubleshooting steps, they can't humor me and just go through with them. Seriously, I don't give a flying fuck if you make more than me or have more certs than I do. You ask a dumb question, you get dumbed down answers. Go through the freaking troubleshooting steps like a good little luser. I wouldn't ask those questions if they didn't help solve the problem 99% of the time.

Either stop being a lazy fuck and fix your own goddamn problem, or shut up and respect those who may know more than you in this one topic. If I ever have a question about how to be a jack ass, I'll know who to ask.

Heheh, that reminds me of a phone call I had with a cell phone tech support rep. My phone up and decided to stop working for no good reason. So I did all those good little basic trouble shooting things, power-cycled, reseated sim card, reseated battery, tried to select networks manually. None of it helped. I call the tech support number the guy tells me to do all of that, me: "I did all of this before" him: "yah most people have, but I have a script in front of me and if I don't stick to it I can get reprimanded" me: "fair enough."

besides that... how many people involved with technology haven't missed a power cord or a standby button in their lives? I did a poll at work the otherday... Only one person said they had always checked that first... strangely, they have the worst stats on the board. *L*

I have to admit to being miffed the once when I called to cable tv though. "I have no pic all channels only set. I'm pretty sure I know what the problem is. Someone broke into the utility room last night at the apt building here and ripped all the cables out of the junction box."

"Oh, well we can try one thing, bypass your digital box and see if you can get picture that way."

"Ummm... I can do that for you if you insist... but with the cable ripped out of the wall, there isn't anything to carry standard cable on either."

He made me do it. *L*
