great googalie moogalie!!
Mar. 3rd, 2006 09:34 amI have a customer installing our "goofus product." I often refer to this as "a block on concrete with a plug," because it just doesn't get easier than this.
To install: Click on the link I email you. Type in your email when it prompts. Watch for any popup instructions, follow them.
Period.
So, after explaining how to copy & paste the URL, we got the install running. After about 10 minutes of "What's it doing?" "It says 'installing'" I hear "Oh. It's got a popup. It says to click to install this componant." "Did you click it?" "Uh. No."
*pencileye, repeat vigorously*
"Click it please. Please follow all popup instructions."

B. Not follow install directions on said popups, should they click on them by mistake.
For the most part, these are two excellent forms of advice in nearly every situation. Unfortunately, yours is the exception that makes the rule. A pity, but I'm sure that eventually you can get them to think for themselves...perhaps a lobotomy might be the suggested method.
