U: Hi, I keep trying to verify an email address but I get a syntax error and page could not be displayed.

T: What are you typing in for the email address?

U: http://www.blah@blah.com

T: .......

*enter dumbfounded snickers and giggles*

*sigh* :( People can be so dippy.

On most of the McDonaldses around here, there is a sign saying that the McDs is "proudly owned by Jon Petrakis" and that we can email him at "www.jonco@mpinet.net." Dip.

I know it's possible, but it isn't actually his address. It's been checked. His address is, in fact, jonco@mpinet.net

At my old employment, we were one of those big national ISPs, we could do a search via email address on www* and there would be more entries than our database could display of people who created email addresses that way.

I'm not surprised. ;) When I took reservations for the Lotus R5 rollout events, often the email address field of the web form would look like this:

www.username

That would be it. Invariably, the correct email address would be "username@aol.com."

Heh.

DNS is strange in that you have to put the period after the FQDN in some spaces.

Fortuantely, I don't have to muck around with the DNS tables too often.

Hoo boy, ain't that the truth. I brought down a whole company's zone file by accidentally ommiting a '.' from a CNAME record. My boss broke out the clue bat on me big time for that little mistake. :(

I saw some big tough guy driving around with a big sticker on his back window:

Don't like my driving? Email:

www.getfucked@fuckyou.com

Geeeez, he looked smart.
