I'm afraid I've got a complaint AGAINST a tech rep this time.

The wireless connection in a building on my campus has been insufferable lately. I got onto the live chat thing at my school to talk to a support rep.

My VPN keeps crapping out, at which point I have to reconnect the wireless to get back on the VPN. Pinging the VPN server takes forever - 30-50 percent loss when pinging more than a few packets.

Sooo at one point in our eternal conversation, she asks for my IP. I say "do you want the IP of my VPN connection or my wireless connection?" She says, "the IP of your machine".

Let's see here. I have two IPs - one for the VPN server I'm on, and one for the access point I'm on. Duh.

It's irritating when people on support lines don't realize that I work the exact same job as them, and therefore talk to me like I'm an idiot and/or make mistakes on their own end, which just makes me laugh at them more.

I <3 online chat programs for doing either part swaps or unit RMAs.

no matter what type of accent or strange english both sides speak, text almost always comes through clear.

Yep. Even when it's mangled like that, I can still get the general gist of what it going on.

I just love it when I have to call somebody's helpdesk, and some guy on the phone introduces himself as "John" from "Texas," sounding exactly like Apu from The Simpsons.

No shit, I had to RMA (or whatever USR's funky term is) a modem once, and I literally had to have the poor guy verify my address back to me one letter at a time. He made Apu sound like he speaks the Queen's english.

i deleted my last comment in a moment of paranoia. i don't think it was me who you chatted with either way.

anyway if you're who i think you are, i owe you an apology for something unrelated.

Well, if you are you the person I snapped at on Jabber like a month ago I'm sorry. We all get really frustrated at all the different times we realize how different campuses/people are trained on the same tasks. It's a major source of drama :/
