Apparently the words,

"When you leave tonight, please leave your PC on. You can log off, but just leave the system turned on."

Are too confusing for someone who has been with the company 12 years. Yes you are tech savy enough to use outdated equipment but I thought for sure you would know now not to turn off the system. Especially when you know I need to copy off your data. Thank you for letting me walk across a foot ball sized building to turn on your pc. TWICE!

(Becuase she wasn't gone gone when I walked over there the first time to turn it back on. Thought it was a mistake and turned it off again.)

All of the companies I have worked for have the user's keep their PC's on all the time for the fact of copying or updating. Has your company thought about using WOL (Wake-up On LAN)?

Boot on LAN is probably more applicable for this luser. That said, this is the solution I thought of immediately too. Kudos ;)

Well, it was my first TECHNICAL solution. My first practical solution usually involves heavy blunt objects and a dark closet.

Go to the bottom of the class. Heavy blunt objects and a dark cupboard *are* technical tools. As are hammers, axes, and any other hardware required to obtain the correct responses from both users and machines.
