No offense people, but why the fuck do you get routers when you don't know WHY you need one??? I'm actually getting quite tired of incessant stupidity with products. We Americans have this problem with thinking we deserve service for EVERYTHING. Just because a company offers free tech support, doesn't mean they're offering free setup service. That's on you. Don't be a cheap bastard and not pay some professional to come out and set it up for you. Frankly, I'm tired of people thinking I talk "too techy" when I'm explaining how to ping their router. That's what I am, cracker jackasshat!! I'm a tech!! I'm SUPPOSED to be "too techy"...that's like asking a doctor to be less of a doctor....man, humans suck!!

Could you dumb it down a shade?

Those are the same people that call their router a "rooooter"... even after you've corrected them twelve times.

They bought the thing cause their "expert neighbor/brother/cousin/friend/son/sister, who knows a lot about computers," told them that they needed it.

I couldn't agree more. My motto is:

"If you don't know how to use it, or where to find help for it....don't buy it!"

Except sales never works like that. If the customer doesn't know what it does but they are absolutely convinced they need it, you couldn't possibly have a better customer. The whole point of service is to keep them convinced they need it.

Cause I get just as pissed as you do about it. It's a shitty way to run a business.

err - yeah.

Router can be pronounced "rooter" in Commonwealth English, or "rowter" in American English. Both are valid pronounciations.

So neener ;)

I had one customer argue with me in a chat format that because the install disk(which is only used for USB drivers) said we were compatible with "Ethernet" I was required to help him Ethernet his router to his modem.

Um. No. I'll give you instructions to reboot your network. If you cannot make it work, call Linkskees.

Your internet balls are weak and shrivelled.

The least you could do is post threatening comments with a user name.
