Fuego: "Describe to me how you remove the adapter from the computer."

Caller: "I grasp it firmly but gently with my thumb and forefinger."

"and then I tug it, at first gently but then, if I receive no signs that my tugging is having an effect, vigorously - until the plug comes out! It comes out! I'm pulling so hard and it
WON'T
COME
OUT!
OH GOD!"

There's your problem! Don't you know you're only supposed to remove adaptors with your tongue?

no no no no.

You use your tongue to increase the salt density on the connectors to inproved the electrical response. This really works good on power cords, as the computer will use all the response it can get.

Ahh, but you didn't realize that you have to press the release button first. So now you've busted the latch, and because you didn't read ALL of the instructions, that's not covered under warranty, luser.

Oh, BTW, you know [livejournal.com profile] blackpaladin and more importantly [livejournal.com profile] cyberjunkie (I'm assuming from APO), and do Burning Man, and of course are here. *drags to flist* :)

Heh. Not yet. I'm being "recruited", mostly by the latter, although by a couple of other Rochesterian alumni. All of them vehemently deny this, but it's pretty clear what's happening. I'm heading for SUNYA in the fall and it seems like a lot more than upper division is awaiting me when I get there.

I usually do Pennsic War (SCA), but I've always had this odd interest in Burning Man, about the only event I know of outside the SCA on its kind of scale that it can at all be compared to (except for that big bike gathering in South Dakota that I'm forgetting the name of - any bikers reading this will smack me soundly :).

Sturgis. And I'm not a biker, just a poor soul who had the misfortune one year of heading through the Sturgis area the day before the official start of the festival. *whimpers in remembered pain* I've never been able to forget that horror...
