Not a horrible luser, I just find this amusing.

One of our clients is having a problem with her website. She keeps telling me over and over that she thinks it has to do with her "sticky IP."

At least she is using a word that has some vague connection with the correct one, so I actually did know what she was talking about. It still makes me giggle whenever I hear it, though!

That's a term I use on a regular enough basis (at my boss' insistence) to refer to a static IP obtained through PPPoE/A. It's still funny, though.

yeah i use sticky ips all the time -- it's the most common way that people are getting "static" ips from large isps (bellsouth, sbc, verizon, etc). so it is fully possible the user could have had an issue with her sticky ip, eh?

It must of been the user who was getting their machine turned into a sexbot. She must be the one getting the sticky Ip...

Haha.

We use that term all the time. Our system will hold onto an IP for a while to see if the user reconnects. If they reconnect within a given period they get assigned the same IP.
