wireless lan issues

we just bought a wireless router and the appropriate cards for 2 desktops and one notebook. everything is fine with those. the 2nd notebook, which is a toshiba satellite pro running XP has an internal wireless modem. the router can see that it exists, and it can see the the wireless network exists, but it locks up. it will boot up, tell me that wireless networks are detected, and then it will lock up. every 5 minutes or so it will unfreeze long enough for me to move the mouse a little, then it will lock up again.

i'm pretty clueless about thise things, but i can follow directions if any of you have any ideas.

sounds like your mouse and the network card (im assumeing it is a wireless network card and not a wireless modem :-P) are figting for and IRQ wich can cause all sorts of fun. also in one of the slow points see if you can get a task manager up and see who is soaking resources ect.

Yes, it may be as stated above, an interupt issue. Although win xp should have solved all that, more or less, as far as I know. Since I have started using WIN XP, and installed it on about 4 or 5 different machines with completely different configurations and hardware, I have never seen this happen yet, but certainly anything IS possible, and **obviously** I have not come anywhere close to covering every conceiveable hardware combination in a meare 5 computers but......I also would like a better definition of what that internal wireless modem device is that is sitting inside the toshiba laptop...A wireless modem to me would mean a device that uses cellular phone technology, not LAN technology, so unless it is a wireless NIC and not a modem, then it is not designed to work with the technology you are trying to implement. it's a wireless adapter, not a modem. it's the toshiba mini card that comes with the satellite pro 6100 series.

i finally have it connecting, but it drops the connection after about 30 seconds.
