wireless lan issues

we just bought a wireless router and the appropriate cards for 2 desktops and one notebook. everything is fine with those. the 2nd notebook, which is a toshiba satellite pro running XP has an internal wireless modem. the router can see that it exists, and it can see the the wireless network exists, but it locks up. it will boot up, tell me that wireless networks are detected, and then it will lock up. every 5 minutes or so it will unfreeze long enough for me to move the mouse a little, then it will lock up again.

i'm pretty clueless about thise things, but i can follow directions if any of you have any ideas.
