At some point, several years ago, some bright spark who does not work in techsupport decided that every desktop in the organisation should sport a neon orange sticker with the techsupport number.

This has meant that when staff don't have enough brain cells to remember that anyone else exists, their eyes are inevitably drawn to the orange blaze, leading to calls like this:

Them: I called $SomeoneCompletelyUnrelated a couple of days ago, and they were going to do X for me.

Me: (pauses, waiting for the relevance)

Them: Hello?

Me: ...and did that other, completely unrelated person or team do whatever it was they were going to do for you?

Them: I don't know!

Me: Thought of calling them to find out?

I swear, if I ever find out who had the bright idea of those stickers, their home phone will become the new star of "for a good time, call..." graffiti.
